Resilient Seed Systems: A Farmer and Seed Grower Consultation

Log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

As we look to build resilient food systems, more farmers are working to integrate seed production into their operations, the number of local seed companies is growing, and new networks of seed producers are emerging. Come to this community meeting to talk about how we can support each other in learning how to conserve, improve, and create new high quality Canadian seed. Join EFAO’s Seed Program Manager to discuss the challenges you are having in regards to this work, talk about the seed work you are currently undertaking, and share ideas of how to improve our seed work together.

Come help improve the EFAO Seed Program by letting us know what kinds of seed programming you’d like, in what form (webinars, field days, podcasts), and if you have any ideas for regional variety trials (eggplants, okra, peppers). Come also to learn about our upcoming region Seed Program Hub Site and let us know what you’d like to see demonstrated there (regional seeds, variety trials, seed grow outs)!

We encourage all former, existing, and prospective farmer-researchers who have been involved in the the Canadian Organic Vegetable Improvement Project (CANOVI), the Participatory Plant Breeding (PPB) program on oats, wheat and potato, or Vegetable Seed Producers Network (VSPN) to attend this meeting to discuss the challenges and opportunities of participating in these programs.
